TOUR INFORMATION

Experience Roker Pier in a new way and learn about Sunderland’s rich maritime heritage.

In 2012 and extensive programme of restorative works began at Roker Pier & Lighthouse. By 2018 the works were finally complete and the complex has now opened to the public for the first time in the structures long history.

During the 90-120min tour, visitors explore the incredible history behind the construction of Roker Pier and the people involved in making it a reality. Guided through the unique experience by our volunteers, visitors will walk the length of the pier tunnel before climbing steps to the top of the lighthouse to take in the incredible views.

Roker Heritage Group are responsible for tours of the tunnel and lighthouse only. For matters concerning the pier please contact Sunderland City Council.
