Roker Heritage Group have now received an official statement from Sunderland Council on the reopening of Roker Pier and Lighthouse.
In response to enquiries from members of the public, Roker Heritage Group contacted Sunderland Council for a statement on the reopening of Roker Pier & Lighthouse. We are finally able to share their statement today.
The official statement from Sunderland Council on the reopening of Roker Pier and Lighthouse reads as follows:
"Works are now nearing completion on Roker Pier and it is currently scheduled to reopen to the public at the beginning of July. Some remaining minor works will still be required but these will continue once the Pier has reopened. The Council didn’t want to further delay the reopening and has decided to reopen the Pier once it is safe to do so with minor works continuing thereafter."
Once the pier is reopen, Roker Heritage Group will begin to operate tours of the pier tunnel and lighthouse. Find out more here.
